Ok, I finally fixed the gap problem with the quick links menu! Just aligned the image to the right to cover up the gap and padded the left with the same color so it looks like a transperent fit 
It is definately because of different font sizes between operating systems though…it displays fine on Mac OS X with any browser, as opposed to broken on Windows with any browser (and broken in my linux with Firefox). Oh well, fixed now.
